Facility Design

Following an evaluation of available commercial properties in the Town of Franklin, a 13 acre site made up of three separate parcels was selected. The location on Route 140 is optimal, with accessibility to the Boston Commuter Rail Service and Interstate 495.

Project Manager Richard Marks of Daedelus Project Management was contracted following his successful work with the Town of Franklin on the newly constructed Franklin Senior Center and Fire Station.

Following proposal submissions and interviews, Wilson Butler Associates of Boston, specialists in theater design, were selected as our project's architectural firm. Some relevant examples of their work include the Bushnell Theater for the Performing Arts - Hartford, CT, Virginia Center for the Performing Arts - Richmond, VA, and Center for the Arts, Towson University - Towson, MD. The conceptual design phase began in February, 2008 with a review of our goals for both programming and the desired 'look and feel' for the facility. Focus group meetings were held with Board members, faculty, students, parents, and several advisor groups to share ideas and offer input. A preliminary presentation was made to the Franklin Planning Board in May and the project was well received. The design, development and permitting phase began during the summer months.

The new center overlooks protected state forest land. The design will take into consideration the natural landscape of the property and includes plans for an outdoor venue and walking trails. We have taken steps to insure that our building project meets the highest green construction and performance measures.

Capital Campaign

The silent phase of our capital campaign is underway. We have been speaking with key community members, state leaders and families with a long history of participating with The School and The Company. Their excitement for what we propose has been contagious, energizing us as we seek participation at all levels. We have already passed the halfway point in our fundraising efforts. The momentum has been truly rewarding as we continue to see a shared enthusiasm for this project.

There are chances to support the project available at all levels, and we will be delighted to speak with you about naming opportunities at our venues. In addition, you could sponsor a faculty chair, concert series, a scholarship program, or support one of our many facilities projects or programming initiatives. Other ways that you might consider giving include gifts, pledges, appreciated securities, and legacy gifts.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding our capital campaign or if you would like to make a contribution to support building this landmark facility that will serve our community for years to come. One of the greatest strengths of our organization has been the support of our students, their families, our patrons and community leaders who appreciate our contributions to the community. The success of this spectacular facility and its impact on the future depends upon the involvement of everyone who embraces and supports the arts and culture in our region. With your participation and enthusiasm, we look forward to a future filled with standing ovations.
